Katy Perry Albums
Katy Perry has had a comparatively short career in the commercial mainstream, put people can already list of her stream of hit songs. Catchy tunes and big collaborations have put Katy right in the public eye, with the singer’s tracks being played constantly on the radio.
Working hard to make high quality tracks, as well as carve out her own individual style, has sealed the singer’s fate. Perry is known now for fun and quirky songs, and dressing to impress, often wearing bold colours and racy outfits.
Katy’s musical influences are said to be Alanis Morissette, Shirley Manson and Queen. Such influences can certainly be seen in her music and style, such as with her quirky personal style, as well as her songs. This mix of influences has meant that her music has had commercial success but also soul and heart.
Discography
Katy’s earlier music, Christian gospel music, goes largely undocumented for its lack of success in the earlier part of the decade. The debut album, Katy Hudson, was released when the singer was only 15 years old, in 2001.
With the lead single, ‘Trust in Me’, and many others written by Katy, the album can be taken as a sign of Katy’s future potential, rather than take any merit for its commercial success. Media moguls recognised the singer as a future talent and gifted songwriter who would one day make it big.
Perry’s next album, ‘One of the Boys’ was not to come out until 2008, with Katy struggling to find a solid record deal in the interim years, with a number of reshuffles and negotiations. Nonetheless, Columbia records believed in the singer, with the release of ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and its instant popularity confirming their belief that Perry would be a star.
Since then, the Perry’s singles and albums have sold well, with follow up¸ ‘Teenage Dream’ highly anticipated and well received commercially and critically.

With a nomination in the 2009 Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and a spate of nominations at the 2008 MTV Music Awards, Perry was certainly getting the recognition she deserved.
